Steven Wolf teaches and conducts research on environmental governance with a specific focus on efforts to secure public goods from private landscapes. His training and approach engage sociology, economics and geography. While most projects address socioecological dynamics in industrialized societies of Europe and USA, he has current projects in India and China.

Environmental and natural resource sociology, conservation planning and management, institutional analysis, innovation systems and sustainable development

Teaching Focus

Wolf’s teaching focuses on concepts and practices that structure efforts to address the challenge of aligning private interests/behaviors with public purposes. Courses include survey (theory) courses, undergraduate research practicums and graduate seminars
