I study the relative effects of decisions made on the non-breeding grounds (habitat quality and occupancy of high versus low quality patches) and the breeding grounds (where to nest,  how much to invest in a nest, and how heavily to defend a nest) on reproductive success and survival of long distance migratory birds. My current research focuses on the microhabitat preferences of nest site selection in Hudsonian Godwits breeding in Alaska and the potential consequences of climate change for their breeding biology.
