Dr. Joseph Orefice serves as the Director of Cornell University’s Uihlein Maple Research Forest, a maple syrup research and extension forest in Lake Placid, New York. There he taps approximately 6,000 maples, 700 birch trees as part of short and long term researching into syrup production and agroforestry. Joseph is a national leader in the field of agroforestry and was an Associate Professor of Forestry at Paul Smith’s College prior to joining Cornell in 2017. He holds a B.S. in Forestry from the University of Maine, Master of Forestry from Yale University, and Ph.D. in Silvopasture from the University of New Hampshire.
