Elena is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Natural Resources and the Environment at Cornell University. Her research focuses on young children's nature education. Specifically, she seeks to engage young children in long-term community-based restoration and conservation activities (e.g., civic ecology practices and stewardship) and engage children as co-researchers to understand their experiences within these practices. Moreover, her research explores how enabling children's participation in nature stewardship might promote a sense of agency and purpose in children.
