Natural Resources faculty and staff are unmatched in their diversity of expertise in natural resources and environmental sustainability. Expertise ranges from conservation genetics to global ecological processes, and from individual and group environmental behavior to influences of institutions and social systems as drivers of environmental change. They are dedicated to applying their expertise to teaching, research, extension and outreach responsibilities, including advising policy makers.

Plant invasions are thought to threaten the function and integrity of ecosystems and native species across the globe. Professor Blossey's research addresses three key areas: How do plant invasions and their management affect native ecosystems; how can we achieve improvements in the success of biological weed control; and what determines the increased competitive ability of invasive plants?
